PhoneZone is musical commentary on the effect of the integration of mobile phones into our everyday lives. While this technology has no doubt provided benefits, it has also come at a cost: our connection with the 'real world' has been somewhat eroded by the endless stream of notifications calling (ha) us into the digital world.
The piece will be composed entirely of sounds emitted by phones:
- ringtones
- vibrations
- voices
- app notification sounds
- alarms
I am still in the process of exploring software to do the spatialization, but I am leaning toward Spat.
